What is the news on Center Parcs in Scotland

Going to Whinfell it's always surprising the amount of Scottish accents you hear. Granted Penrith is very close to the border so should maybe be expected but for many years Whinfell has been the closest Center Parcs for families living in Scotland. In late 2024 Center Parcs made the exciting announcement that this is going to change and a new village will be opening in the coming years (potentially as early as 2028 all things going to plan).

The proposed site for Scotland's first Center Parcs village will be located just off the A7, north of Hawick (pronounced "hoyk" - rhyming with "boy") and south of Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. This location has been carefully chosen to make the most of the beautiful Scottish Borders landscape while ensuring excellent accessibility for visitors from both Scotland and northern England.

The new village will feature 700 woodland lodges, continuing the Center Parcs tradition of quality accommodation nestled in a forest setting. Visitors can look forward to all the classic Center Parcs offerings including the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, an Aqua Sana spa, a wide range of indoor and outdoor leisure activities, shops, and various restaurants and cafés to suit all tastes and budgets.

The development represents a significant investment in the Scottish tourism sector and will create hundreds of jobs in the Borders region. The combination of the peaceful Borders setting with Center Parcs' proven mix of activities and facilities promises to create the perfect forest holiday experience that the brand is known for.

For Scottish families who have been making the journey to Whinfell and other UK villages over the years, this new development means they'll soon have a Center Parcs to call their own. The Scottish Borders location offers the perfect blend of accessibility and natural beauty, continuing the Center Parcs tradition of creating memorable forest holidays while boosting the local economy.

The village might be a few years away, but it gives plenty of time for families to plan their first visit to what will become Scotland's own Center Parcs village. We'll keep tracking prices across all villages, hopefully including this exciting new addition once bookings open!
